Senior Trading Specialist

The Trade Desk is a global technology company and the world’s leading independent platform for digital advertising, with nearly 4,000 employees across more than 30 offices. Our technology helps advertisers reach the right audiences across the open internet — from streaming TV and podcasts to mobile apps, news, and more.

Advertising powers the content people love. By making it more transparent, effective, and responsible, we help support trusted journalism, quality entertainment, and creators worldwide. The world’s brands and agencies rely on us to reach their customers and grow their businesses responsibly.

The scale of our platform brings unique technical challenges — from processing massive datasets in real time to building systems that operate reliably on a global scale. When you work here, your impact is worldwide. We welcome diverse perspectives, encourage curiosity, and build teams that learn from one another. If you’re driven to solve meaningful challenges, we’d love to meet you.

Programmatic advertising is at an inflection point. AI is reshaping how campaigns are built, optimized, and measured — and The Trade Desk is at the center of that shift, giving advertisers the tools to compete on the open internet without surrendering to walled gardens. As a Senior Trading Specialist in Tokyo, you won't just manage campaigns — you'll be the strategic intelligence layer between data and decisions, helping Japan's leading brands and agencies unlock the full potential of data-driven media. If you're fluent in both numbers and narratives, and you want your work to matter at scale, this is your role.

What you'll do:

  • Lead data-driven conversations using the platform and custom reporting to provide insights and tell client-relevant stories that connect advertising to business results
  • Spearhead strategy development to ensure clients stay competitive in key areas including first-party data activation, CTV consolidation, and retail measurement
  • Consult with clients on campaign goals and strategies to ensure they are maximizing the full value of The Trade Desk's platform
  • Operate as a platform power user and build that same capability and confidence within your clients — empowering them to plan, execute, and optimize independently at scale
  • Collaborate with Account Management and Sales to educate clients, grow your portfolio, and ensure buyers are up to date on The Trade Desk's constantly evolving product suite
  • Build and own key relationships with client planning, trading, and analytical teams — driving the trust and independence that defines TTD's empowerment model
  • Troubleshoot advanced technical problems including performance issues, measurement discrepancies, and constrained targeting
  • Elevate Client Services by developing best practices, creating training collateral and client-facing guides, and onboarding new teammates
  • Shape the product roadmap — your client insights feed directly into how we build the platform for the entire open internet

Who you are:

  • 6+ years of consultative, client-facing experience in ad tech, digital marketing, or other data-intensive industries (DSP experience is a plus)
  • Bilingual fluency in Japanese & English — you'll work across languages daily with clients and internal teams
  • Passionate about client success — you go beyond service expectations because you genuinely care about outcomes
  • Outstanding troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, along with an ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to look for opportunities for improvements and changes
  • Strong data story-telling skills
  • Advanced MS Excel / data visualization skills
  • Strong quantitative skills and the ability to draw insights from extremely large datasets
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and energized by building new approaches in a fast-moving, high-growth environment
  • Additional experience with SQL, R, Tableau or Python is a plus
