As Senior Director of People Advisory Partners, you will lead our North America (NAMER) People Partner team through the dynamic challenges of a growth company. This role demands exceptional agility to navigate rapid organizational change, unwavering grit to drive results amid complexity, and the executive presence to influence senior leadership decisions. You'll serve as a strategic architect who balances hands-on execution with visionary thinking, partnering with C-suite executives to scale People Operations while maintaining our culture of high performance. In this fast-paced environment, you'll demonstrate the resilience to pivot quickly, the tenacity to see initiatives through completion, and the strategic acumen to anticipate business needs before they arise. Your ability to thrive in ambiguity, build trust with senior executives, and lead teams through constant evolution will define your success in this critical leadership position.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead a team of strategic HR partners (People Advisory Team) that serve as trusted partners to employees, managers and executives on people related matters.
  • Build and support a high performing team of HR professionals who support North America employees and are aligned by business.
  • Lead and own the end-to-end resolution of complex inquiries and issues related to senior executives, demonstrating agility in navigating sensitive situations and grit in driving outcomes, in partnership with Centers of Excellence across the People Teams.
  • Partner directly with C-suite and senior executives to provide strategic counsel on organizational design, talent strategy, and people decisions that accelerate business growth in our rapidly scaling environment.
  • Navigate the complexities of a mature growth company by anticipating scaling challenges, adapting HR strategies to evolving business priorities, and building infrastructure that supports continued expansion while maintaining operational excellence.
  • Champion a culture of high work performance by providing hands-on support and thought partnership to your team, modeling the agility and grit required to succeed in our fast-paced environment.
  • Create and implement innovative People programs that help leaders achieve their business goals, with the flexibility to pivot strategies based on changing market conditions and organizational needs.
  • Drive your team to a high standard of service, with an expectation of adhering to SLAs, escalating and addressing risk, identifying opportunities to improve service and collaborating effectively.
  • Partner with colleagues in EMEA and APAC to create globally consistent programs while adhering to local practices, demonstrating cultural agility and the persistence to align diverse stakeholder perspectives.
  • Collaborate with People Development leaders to ensure teams are working together on business team support, sharing insights and creating a seamless employee experience across all touch points.
  • Weigh-in on the design and implementation of strategic employee programs including Engagement Survey, Performance Management, and Talent Management related initiatives.
  • Analyze team metrics, KPIs, SLAs and other data sources to recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery speed and quality.
  • Leverage knowledge of employment law to help mitigate risk while consulting on People related matters.
  • Provide recommendations to senior leadership on the performance measures that should be taken in response to individual needs, balancing business requirements with employee advocacy.
  • Skilled in de-escalating potential conflicts and building conflict resolution strategies in partnership with People Development and People Relations teams.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, relevant master's degree preferred.
  • 12+ years working as a HR Business Partner or People Operations, with 8+ years working as a people manager of a high-performing team in fast-paced, scaling organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with senior executives and C-Suite members in growth-stage companies, with proven ability to influence strategic decisions and navigate complex stakeholder dynamics.
  • Employment law background with significant knowledge of employment law across the United States, particularly in New York and California, and global experience preferred.
  • Practical understanding and experience across key HR functional areas, processes, and practices.
  • Functional experience working with both technical and non-technical teams, including Go-To-Market (GTM) and Sales orgs.
  • Experience driving teams to provide excellent levels of service while simultaneously scaling operations and maintaining quality standards.
  • Experience building strong relationships with the business and earn trust and credibility through delivery and execution, particularly with executive stakeholders who demand results.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and create results in ambiguous, high-pressure situations where priorities shift frequently and resources are constrained.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with proven experience in delivering sensitive messaging of all types to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience with conflict management and resolution in high-stakes situations involving senior leaders and complex organizational dynamics.
  • Act as an independent thinker and self-starter who thrives in environments requiring both autonomy and collaboration.

The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as variable compensation-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year. At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $166,200—$304,700 USD
