As the Director of Talent and Performance Management, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing talent and performance management frameworks that align with our organization's goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in performance management strategy and design, job architecture, talent management, succession planning, and career pathing, coupled with a deep understanding of HR best practices. Your leadership will drive transformative change within our dynamic organization, fostering a culture of continuous growth and development. You will also spearhead the establishment and evolution of the Talent Management Center of Excellence, positioning it as a key driver of strategic talent initiatives across the organization.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the Talent Management Center of Excellence, establishing it as a hub for best practices, tools, and resources that enhance talent management across the organization.
  • Lead the design and implementation of performance management strategy. Own te end-to-end design of how performance is measured, differentiated and connected to compensation and promotion decisions.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive job architecture system that clearly outlines job families, levels, and career pathways, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Create and execute a succession planning strategy and process that includes talent profiles, assessment methodologies, talent reviews, action planning, and bench strength.
  • Build and enhance career development framework and tools, including skills assessments, career planning guides, progression pathways, and internal mobility initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted consultant to People Advisory Partners, advising on tailored People strategies for various business units to optimize talent and performance outcomes..
  • Collaborate across all People teams to deliver integrated organizational effectiveness solutions that drive performance and growth.
  • Partner with and report to the Senior Director of Organizational Effectiveness to support competency development, activation, and embedding, as well as organizational design initiatives that ensure optimal structures and alignment with business priorities.
  • Partner with Compensation to ensure performance management outputs connect cleanly to pay for performance and compensation review processes.
  • Cultivate strong, trusted relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment on talent and performance strategies and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Navigate ambiguity with confidence – take ownership of workstreams where the path is unclear, make pragmatic decisions with imperfect information, and iterate quickly as the strategy evolves.

Who You Are:

  • Master’s degree in human resources, Psychology, Organizational Behavior, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR, talent management, competency development, succession planning or a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience in performance management strategy, design, and implementation
  • Proven ability to design and implement effective talent management frameworks and programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizational design, including designing and embedding scalable frameworks, is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
  • Thrives in ambiguity. Comfortable operating without a fully defined playbook; ability to take a brief, shape the approach, and drive forward with pace and pragmatism.
  • Adapts quickly when direction shifts and doesn't wait for perfect information before acting.
  • Demonstrates core company values, including vision, grit, agility, generosity, openness, and full-heartedness.

In accordance with various US state laws, the range provided is the Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as variable compensation-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year. At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $137,300—$251,800 USD
